In 1966, the Platner Collection captured the "decorative, gentle, graceful" shapes that were beginning to infiltrate the modern vocabulary. The iconic pieces are created by welding hundreds of curved steel rods to circular frames, simultaneously serving as structure and ornament.

The Platner armchair is stunning in person – the steel rod construction feels surprisingly sturdy despite its delicate appearance. I chose the Curly-White option and it brightens up my dining area beautifully. While expensive, the craftsmanship justifies the cost. My only minor complaint is the seat cushion could be slightly more comfortable for long periods. Overall, very pleased with this elegant addition to my home.
